Episode 3
Cold Shower Chronicles.
They said it builds discipline.
They said it helps circulation, clears your skin and sharpens your mind.
What they didn’t say was that the first splash of cold water would feel like a slap from reality, personal, cold, and wildly uncalled for.
I stood there, shivering, doing awkward mini-squats to create some heat. Mid-shiver, my shower cap fell. I watched it hit the floor and roll away like it had somewhere better to be. I wasn’t going after it. That shower cap chose its path.
40 seconds later, I’d already questioned every decision that led me here including the bright idea to embrace discomfort.
Then the water suddenly turned warm.
I hadn’t touched a thing. I looked up like Lord? Is that You? Is this a sign?
Turns out, NEPA blinked.
The heater kicked in, unprovoked. The power of grace and erratic electricity.
I took the miracle, rinsed fast, and leapt out of that bathroom.
My skin? Glowing.
My faith in cold showers? Suspended, pending further investigation.
I would not miss the opportunity of having cold showers except if I am rushing out.
